The semi-rigid thermoformable films supplied by Wipak have various base layers which in each case are laminated (by an adhesive-free process) with a polyethylene barrier sealing film, where the gas barrier is provided by EVOH. Semi-rigid or flexible lidding films – available printed, peelable and/or reclosable – are suitable for closing the thermoformed containers. Provided with a special sealant, the films have excellent hot tack properties; even while still warm, the seams stand up to the stresses of gas-flushing processes.
Multipet films have a base layer consisting of amorphous polyester (APET). The films are available either highly transparent or optionally coloured white or black, and they provide a superb UV light barrier. They run trouble-free on all standard thermoforming, sealing and cutting machines. In combination with a Multipet TPF top web forming film (lidding film), Multipet films can also be used as reclosable packaging.
An expanded polyester web forms the base layer of Escofoam films. Available in various colours, Escofoam films are notable for their excellent thermoforming performance and they follow any shape of the mould precisely. They are considered to be one of the fastest forming semi-rigid films on the market. Their warm surface texture enhances the impression of freshly packed goods – a frequently desired effect for fresh and processed meat, poultry products and ready meals.
