Steam sterilization requires a higher temperature than other industrial sterilization processes, and therefore any plastic raw material used must withstand sterilization temperatures from 121°C to 134°C. Steam sterilization is based on the energy given off by the hot steam. Therefore, the materials used must allow the steam to penetrate at least one side of the pack. The breathable material must be sufficiently permeable to allow fast evacuation of the steam during the process.
