We constantly strive to develop solutions that enable significant downgauging, whilst offering best product protection.
For example, we are able to produce flexible thermoforming films that are 25% thinner than conventional films with our state-of-the-art coextrusion technology
Ultra-thin lidding film (BIAXER Q 35 XX AFM), combined with high performance flexible thermoformable bottom film (SC XX 95 PLUS), enables a 20% material reduction without compromising product safety. The solution offers a 20% CO2 footprint reduction compared to standard solutions (lidding 65 µm and bottom 112 µm). Brilliant transparency and excellent mechanical strength complete the package.
Our ultra-thin lidding film, BIAXER Q 35 XX AFM, which can be roto or flexo printed, can be combined with a wide range of bottom films, ensuring excellent product safety.
Pioneering BIAXER 35 XX PP S-PEEL AFM is the thinnest lidding for PP-trays, with well-known burst peel functionality to grant product safety. The new lidding film enables 30% reduced material consumption, excellent barrier properties and antifog function. On top of this, it has a 15% lower CO2-footprint, compared to the standard 50 µm film.
The PP-tray, if disposed separately to the lid, is recyclable.
When we invented REPAK® reclose lids about ten years ago, we started with a 95 µm solution. Step by step, we decreased the thickness leading to the latest and thinnest solution: REPAK® TOP 65 XX PET, with 20% reduced thickness (compared to actual standard with 80 µm) and a CO2 footprint reduction of 15%.
Sealing on mono-APET, the reclosable lidding enables us to further reduce the amount of material used in the bottom film. If post-consumer recycled PET is used in the bottom, for example 50%, the CO2 -footprint of the solution can be reduced by 60%.
