Sustainable Solutions

Changes in consumer markets, increased awareness of consumer and changing requirements, and regulations and needs influence the packaging market of today significantly.

Redesigning packaging to mono-material solutions, which are already recyclable or might be recyclable in future, is a key priority on our agenda. So far, PET tray recycling is limited and has some challenges, but the future will determine whether new technologies will enable recycling of mono-PET solutions.

In the interim, it is worth taking a look at our mono-PET solutions, which are thin, flexible, functional and have great transparency.

1) Mono-Polyester reclosable solution

Mono-Polyester solutions are requested in several countries and with our latest solution - a reclosable mono-PET lidding from our REPAK® TOP ECO PET range - convenience, excellent transparency and reclosablitly are guaranteed, and fresh products can be packed safely.

Combining REPAK® TOP ECO 65 PET and MULTICLEAR 250 (for example with 50% recycled content) a CO2 footprint reduction of 60% can be achieved.

In addition to the 65 µm film without barrier, suitable for gassing cheese, we have films available with high barrier as well, ranging from 70 to 80 µm.

2) Thin mono-material solutions for fresh or processed products

Highly transparent - that’s what polyester-based packaging is known for. PET solutions are gathering more and more market share and offer potential for material reduction. We can achieve a mono-solution (BIAXER ECO XXX 40 PET PEEL lidding film and APET bottom film) with 95% PET content and a material reduction of 20-30%
An ultra-thin, but ultra-high oxygen barrier can be achieved for best product protection and even an additional security feature is added. After the first opening, a nice whitening effect is visible between the peelable top and bottom seal, which proves that the sealing was homogeneous and secure.

By integrating recycled PET into the bottom film (for example 50%), the CO2 footprint can be reduced by up to 60%.
